Substance Abuse Maintenance

The main goal of this program is to minimize withdrawal symptoms and cravings. This gives individuals recovering from substance abuse a chance to function normally. Along with other forms of treatment and recovery support services, they can become free from substance use disorder over time. Individuals may be advised to take medications for months or years (the duration depends on the individual’s needs), but the goal is to wean off the maintenance medication. This process should be done gradually and may only be done with a joint decision among the individuals and the professionals they are working with.
